First debate

Image from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6154376.stm

So then the first debate. Should I talk about global warming, should I talk about the massive controversy surrounding the war in Iraq. No, that is one of the obvious topics to debate, instead I am going to debate something which to many people, they will find immature, but well do I mind, not really.

So for my first debate I will discuss the effect of PS3, not been released in Europe until March.

This was not so much shocking news as how can they have mass produced such a large amount of PS3's when obviously they were going to be problems and they would not be able to cope with such a large demand, but was this a deliberate ploy.
By not having the amount of PS3's available to supply the customers, there is such a surge for demand as they all want to be one of the 'Exclusive few' to own a PS3 and this large demand has caused it to sky rocket in price. Sure demand is slowly been met by shipments but now in Europe people are determined to have one and they believe by the time it is released that the PS3's power will be properly utilised meaning that the people who were going to buy one in November are still likely to buy one in March, and it means that PS3 can announce massive sales in 2007 to say they are still doing well after PS3 has been out for months, this would be unreal as by releasing it in Europe means that of course there will still be large demand. Of course I may be completely wrong, but thats for you to decide...

The PS3 is basically just another regular console, it looks to be similar to PS2 in most ways and there isn't much difference for the XBox 360.
I believe that everyone should buy at least 2 of the 3 next gen consoles, and one of them must be the nintendo wii as it is totally different from the other 2, and is totally different from its predecessor, the gamecube. The second will be a hard choice but my choice will be the PS3 purely because i prefer the games availiable.

I disagree with your arguement, why wouldn't sony want to maximise their sales instantly straight from the go and not take their sales over time

Sure the PS3 will be an awesome console, but in the long run, Sony will have problems maintaining it. In the long run the Wii and the XBox360 will outperform the PS3

I don't like XBox's due to the horrible controller design and the limited amount of titles available for it so an XBox 360 is out of the question. I currently own a PS2, because it was cheap and had classic games for it. Grand Theft Auto, Final Fantasy and other games like Spiderman, etc.

I probably will not buy a PS3 and buy a Wii instead.

The PS3 may have the bigger names and all the high tech specs, but so what? The Wii, is cheap, the graphics are good enough, the wand feature is incredabily original and well thought out. Also, the new Zelda game is heavily similar to the Oricana of Time which is one of the best games ever. Not to mention the Wii has brought back many Nintendo Classics. Super Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda, and too many more to name.

Wii > PS3
